Brookmount Retreat is ideal for families wanting to experience the farming lifestyle.

There is plenty of open space for children to ride their pushbikes safely and enjoy the freedom of being on a farm. They can help feed the chooks and collect the eggs. If anyone is wanting to see what happens on the farm, there is always room for a gate openner when John, Liz or Kate go out to the paddocks.

Brookmount is the home to 1000 sheep and 300 cattle as well as 5 horses, 6 chooks, 2 cats (Cat & Cat), 3 sheep dogs (Penny, Ronnie and Axle), 2 working sheep protecting maremmas (Bruno and Missy), 1 spoilt home paddock maremma (Zoe), Bundy - our Jack Russell and George - Kate's whippet. The horses on the property belong to our daughter Kate who is a keen camp drafter.

Brookmount Retreat is also ideal for couples. The location of the cottage offers seclusion and serenity - perfect if you are wanting to get away from it all or wanting time to regroup. The warm verandahs and the cozy lounge room with the inviting comfortable chairs encourage you to stop, relax and curl up with a good book. You can do your own cooking or dine at our high quality eateries in Walcha, Walcha Road or at Kentucky.

Brookmount Retreat is a perfect stopover for groups on bikes travelling north, south, east or west through Walcha. Walcha is at the crossroads of the Thunderbolts Way (Armidale / Gloucester) and the Port Macquarie (Bendemeer / Wauchope) Road. Just 10 minutes from town on a bitumen road (with .5km dirt) we offer locked garage security for your bikes and very welcoming comfortable beds plus a good hot shower for your comfort.
